A study[1] being published in the upcoming issue of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, and e-published ahead of print by the National Institute of Health, has found that cannabis oil is a safe and effective treatment option for Alzheimer’s disease, which affects over 5 million U.S. citizens.

According to researchers, the objective of the study was; “To measure efficacy and safety of medical cannabis oil (MCO) containing THC as an add-on to pharmacotherapy, in relieving behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).”

Participants of the study saw a “significant decrease” of: “Dlusions, agitation/aggression, irritability, apathy, and sleep and caregiver distress.”

The study concludes that; “Adding MCO [medical cannabis oil] to AD [Alzheimer’s disease] patients’ pharmacotherapy is safe and a promising treatment option.”
